The Youth Pro-Animal Awards (YPAA) is a global nonprofit initiative that uplifts the next generation of farm animal advocates—by giving them the tools, funding, and mentorship they need to speak out and spark change.

We launched YPAA in 2024 with a clear goal: to support young people using social media to speak up for farm animals. But we quickly realized something surprising—these voices were hard to find.

While many organizations are doing incredible work for animals, few are focused on youth-led digital advocacy. Most programs weren’t designed to track emerging creators or engage audiences on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. As a result, young people passionate about farm animal welfare often lacked the support, visibility, and community they needed to share their message.

We saw this as both a challenge and an opportunity. If we want the pro-animal movement to thrive in the future, we need to invest in the next generation of communicators—meeting them where they are, and helping them build the skills and confidence to lead.

So we got to work.

What We Do

YPAA runs an annual social media competition to spotlight and support young creators speaking up for farm animals. In partnership with The Pollination Project, we’ve awarded grants to teens in over 20 countries, with expert judges and mentors helping them grow their impact.

But we’re not just about the money. We offer:

Our winners are using their grants to create powerful videos, inspire their peers, and build communities of compassion—online and off.

Why It Matters

Since launching, we’ve given grants and mentorship support to over 50 young activists across six continents. Some were already social media standouts. For many, YPAA was their first time ever posting about farm animals. Now, they’re helping shape the future of advocacy—one post, one story, one feed at a time.

Through their voices, we’re building a more inclusive, youth-driven movement for farm animal welfare. And we believe investing in these changemakers is not just important—it’s essential.

These young creators inspire me every day. Their courage, creativity, and compassion give me hope—not just for the future of the pro-animal movement, but for the kind of world we’re all trying to build.

Working with youth activist Genesis Butler since she was 12 has shown me what’s possible when we invest early and consistently. She’s grown into one of the most influential young voices for animals in the world, and her journey reminds me why this work matters.

With so many challenges facing us—climate change, systemic injustice, and the urgent need for food system reform—we need bold, youth-led leadership. That’s why the Youth Pro-Animal Awards exists: to uplift the next generation of changemakers and help them use their voices to make a difference.
